The curb appeal of any house can be the determining factor in whether it sells quickly or sits on the market for months.
The one thing to remember when selling your home is that first impressions are more important than you think!

Here are some helpful tips on improving the curb appeal of your home, whether you’re looking to sell or are just interested in a tune up:
Colour Scheme
Ideally, using three complimentary colours on the exterior will help showcase different attributes of your home. Use one colour for the brick/siding of the house, another for the trim of the house and lastly a bolder colour for the front door. The colour of your house should not contrast with flowers, plants, furniture in your yard or any other houses in your neighbourhood as the house will become an eye sore instead of a gem.
Flowers/Plants
Flowers are necessary when trying to create curb appeal for your home. They’re inviting and transform your yard into a colourful and luscious wonderland. If you’re not interested in the usual flower bed garden, why not use planters on your porch, flowers along your walkway or even plant a tree or two? Try to include a mixture of colours and sizes for flowers or plants to give a more enhanced look.
Lawn Care
Your lawn is one of the main focal points of your home’s curb appeal. Always make sure your lawn is fertilized and mowed on a regular basis to stay lush, green and healthy. If you’re not up to the hard work of taking care of your lawn there are other grass-free options such as synthetic grass, gravel, mulch or even a large patio!
Walkways
The walkway is your first opportunity to make your home feel welcoming to your guests. Repairing any damage to your walkway by power washing, staining or paving will benefit the look of your home as a whole. If you’re looking for a bigger investment, try making a walkway of coloured brick or stone for a more impressive look.
Porch
Your porch is the space that transitions from the outside of your home to the inside. Try to use furniture and items on your porch that won’t clash with the interior of your home. It’s a good idea to make a comfortable seating area on your porch that allows your guests to enjoy the scenery of the whole yard.
Furniture
Furnishing the outside of your home is not an easy task as weather tends to damage furniture easily. Keep your exterior furniture dry and out of the sun but if this is an impossible task, updating your furniture on a regular basis may be necessary. Furniture that compliments the rest of the exterior will give your home more curb appeal as well as making it more inviting for your guests.
Lighting
In addition to security, lighting is a very important factor in your home’s curb appeal. Lighting is usually placed along the sides of your walkway as well as the front porch. Focusing the porch light on the address numbers of your home is also a good idea. For any extra curb appeal try adding lights to your shrubs, trees, fences or gates!
We were first time buyers and quite overwhelmed with the process at the beginning. Fortunately, My friend recommended and we got to work with Jayashree as our advisor, who helped us navigate the process and made sure we understand everything each step of the way. She’s knowledgeable, responsive, and always on the reach. Thanks to her expertise and negotiation skills, we were able to find the perfect home we loved.
Jayashree was a pleasure to work with! This was my first time getting my own condo in Toronto and it was pretty overwhelming. Thankfully ,She made the process smooth and fun! I am happy my financing was also taken care I felt like so much was offloaded and the entire process felt good. I highly recommend her!
Jayashree did a great job selling our home in Oshawa. We strongly recommend her services and would certainly use her again when we sell our next home. She took her time with us, was always quick and responsive throughout the whole selling process, and never insisted on selling our home for less than we were comfortable with, like some other agents we had in the past. Thank you Jayashree, you are the best!
Jayashree was an excellent real estate professional. We called her with a very short timeline to rent out our condo unit. As an incredibly reliable agent, she found us a great tenant despite the time crunch. We greatly appreciated that she is a landlord herself and also has real estate investing experience. She added a lot of value providing her advice throughout the process. She also gave us the option to be included in the tenant interview – which we felt was extremely helpful in assessing the quality of the tenant. We also really appreciated how responsive and proactive she was, which alleviated a lot of stress for us. We loved working with Jayashree and look forward to working with her again.
